Festival Results

Each year we attend as many festivals as possible, which involves racing against women’s dragon boat teams and with other breast cancer survivor teams. The festivals usually take place over a two-day period.

Sistership has participated in festivals across Canada and into the U.S. Thanks to the variety of festivals, team members have the opportunity to attend about four festivals per year.

Calgary holds a Dragon Boat festival every year, which allows Sistership to host other breast cancer survivor teams. Every four years, there is an international breast cancer festival (IBCPC) which has taken Sistership across the world and the next festival, in 2023, will be held in New Zealand.

2021

Due to COVID-19 a second paddling and festival season was cancelled around the world. As restrictions eased during the season, our friends at the Calgary Canoe Club allowed us to paddle and train in their Outrigger V12 boats with reduced capacity.

 2020

Due to COVID-19 paddling and festival season was cancelled around the world.

To honour our festival season, sisters embarked on a virtual “Festival Walk” logging 4900.35kms. This was representative of the distance needed to reach each festival destination.
