Sistership would not be as successful as we are without the outstanding support of YMCA Calgary. Each year, they generously support our members by providing opportunities and facilities to maintain our fitness level and paddling technique. As a way to show our appreciation, Sistership members take part in several YMCA initiatives.
Each year, Sistership runs a fundraising drive in conjunction with the YMCA “Lets Raise” campaign. The Sistership Board matches paddlers’ monetary donations. The YMCA uses these donations for its various programs and services, including financial assistance to assist individuals who would otherwise not have access to those programs and services.
Sistership rolls up our sleeves each spring out at Camp Chief Hector! Members spend the day preparing the site for campers. Sistership members enjoy a beautiful day in the mountains while lending a helping hand.
Sistership collaborates with Wellspring Alberta – Calgary each year by providing its members with an opportunity to try out dragon boat paddling. In the spirit of kinship and building community, it’s our way to support other cancer survivors and patients in the hopes of making their journey just a bit lighter.
Wellspring Alberta is a registered charity offering free programs and services that meet the emotional, social and practical needs of people living with cancer – those diagnosed, as well as their caregivers and families. Wellspring helps to heal the mind, heart and spirit.
