Under sunny skies, Sistership Calgary officially christened their newest boat, Resilience, during a heartwarming ceremony together with sponsors, donors, family and friends on Sunday, July 26 at the Glenmore Reservoir.
The acquisition of Resilience was made possible thanks to donations from Calgary Eastport Lions Club and the Buckley Family Trust. Its name conveys strength, perseverance and determination — characteristics that Sistership members had to often draw upon to get through their own journey during breast cancer treatment.
Past President Brigitte Edwards led the christening and captured the sentiment of what the boat represents.
“Resilience is more than a boat,” reflected Brigitte. “She holds the stories of women who have faced breast cancer with courage that reshapes lives. She will carry laughter, tears, friendship and the powerful bond that comes from moving forward together.”
