Giving Back to the Community

Sistership members spread our message of hope, strength, and wellness through paddling and cultivating a presence in our community.

YMCA

Sistership has a long-standing relationship with the YMCA. They have kindly provided space for pre-season dryland and pool training sessions in  their facilities. In addition, the YMCA generously donates full-year  memberships to Sistership paddlers.

In appreciation, Sistership participates in:

The “Let’s Raise” Campaign

Each year, Sistership runs a fundraising drive in conjunction with the YMCA  “Lets Raise” campaign. Sistership  matches paddlers’  monetary donations. The YMCA uses  these donations for its various programs and services, including financial assistance to assist individuals who would otherwise not have access to those programs and services.

Camp Chief Hector

Camp Chief Hector

Sistership rolls up our sleeves each spring out at Camp Chief Hector! Members spend the day preparing the site for campers. Sistership members enjoy a beautiful day in the mountains while lending a helping hand.

CIBC Run for the Cure

Sistership supports this event by registering a team to raise funds. We also host a booth to promote wellness and community through paddling for breast cancer survivors.

Wellspring

Wellspring Day 2023

Since 2022, Sistership has collaborated with Wellspring Calgary in providing an afternoon of paddling and kinship for Wellspring’s young adults’ community, with plans in 2025 to extend this event to all other cancer patients and survivors who utilize Wellspring’s various cancer support programs.

Wellspring Alberta is a registered charity offering free programs and services that meet the emotional, social and practical needs of people living with cancer – those diagnosed, as well as their caregivers and families. Wellspring helps to heal the mind, heart and spirit.
